6Mar 08 !We Do it BIGGER and BETTER every Year!
It’s that time of year again! The holidays are over and everyone is itching to break out that new gear. After all of the back to back boat shows and the Mardi Gras season, it will be time for the south’s largest wake fest, Louisiana Spring Fling 08. LSF is a four day event in the heart of the south’s swampland that brings all of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi’s best together for one big party. When the founders of Spring Fling got together and created this event I don’t think they had it in their minds that it would last this long or turn in to the fun packed event it has become and this year’s event promises to be the biggest and craziest ever. LSF is running ten years strong and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. October 27th and 28th The Ouachita RiverPosted by KEN
In Ridin!
30Aug 07 Many have heard of it, several have ridden it, but few really know it. It is the Ouachita River. The Ouachita River winds from Western Arkansas to central Louisiana. Along it’s path are miles upon miles of navigable water.
The Ouachita River is one of Louisiana’s hidden assets. It’s one of the few rivers which has been deemed a scenic waterway. Along it’s banks you can find nearly all types of terrain, from the mountains of Arkansas to the swamps of Louisiana. However, for this article, I’m concentrating on describing the Ouachita that I know; the Ouachita that is quite possibly wakeboarding paradise. I’ve spent most of my 34 years navigating the Ouachita. I’ve boated, at one time or another, from the Louisiana/Arkansas line to several miles south of Columbia, LA (over 100miles of river). No river can possibly be more condusive to wakeboarding or just having fun in general. Boat launches abound along the Ouachita River. From my home near Monroe, LA, I can drive to as many as eight different boat launches within about 30 minutes drive time. Also, with depths reaching as deep as 70feet in some places during is lowest stage, navigation for wakeboard boats is rarely a problem. The Ouachita River is laden with sandbars. In some areas of the river, such as near Columbia, LA, sandbars are located on nearly every bend of the river. These sandbars are often areas of socialization. Only a few are considered off limits to the general public. Most are free reign for whoever wants to to chill for a while between sets. Pictures are “borrowed” from the Ouachita River Foundation, www.ouachitariver.org , thank you Glenn Gore. |
